The Commission on Elections Region 2 has spearheaded a 3-day ‘Mock Elections’ activity on Friday, April 22 at SM Downtown Tuguegarao city.
In partnership with SM Downtown Tuguegarao, the commission established a booth where Tuguegaraoeños and mall goers can participate and experience the actual voting activity in the upcoming national and local elections in May 9.
Regional Elections Director Attorney Julius Torres mentioned that the mock elections conducted in the region will help the public understand the election process, especially for first-time voters as part of the agency’s preparation for the upcoming elections.
“Gusto natin ipakita lalong lalo na sa mga first time voters especially yung mga marami pang mga katanungan kagaya ng on how this machine operates para at least may experience sila sa parating na election day. Hindi na sila mangangapa kasi they would know na the procedure, alam na nila yung gagawin nila at may personal experience na sila kung ano yung mangyayare,” Torres said.
The agency and the mall department is aiming a total of 800 participants per day for the mock election activity and encourages the public especially first time voters to experience the election process.
