Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said on Monday, April 18, that COVID-19 cases are gradually increasing in 14 areas in the country currently under Alert Level 1.
Duque’s statement was sourced from a recent cabinet meeting, however, he did not provide details on the 14 areas with rising COVID-19 infections.
So far, the health secretary only noted Manila, Quezon City and nearby Cavite have the most number of new positive infections from the period of April 12 to 18.
Based on DOH’s data, NCR has the highest logged new infections with 606, tailed by Calabarzon region with 226 and Central Luzon with 181.
The National Task Force for COVID-19 has also bared to reporters that the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao have also logged rising numbers of COVID-19.
Presently, the capital region and 887 other areas nationwide are under Alert Level 1 until the end of April, with 1,674 new COVID-19 cases reported by DOH from April 11 to 17, citing a daily average of 239 new patients daily.
