Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Two candidates for 2022 who are from the opposition in Senator Risa Hontiveros and Vice Presidential aspirant Senator Kiko Pangilinan have recently been victims of delivery bookings which are fake on Monday, Nov 22.
Senator Hontiveros went public on Tuesday, Nov 23, about a P17,500 worth of food delivery booking listed under her name and office with hashtags of “We Love Duterte,” and “I love Drilon” placed on the delivery notes.
However, the food orders were discontinue as the restaurant was pushing for bank transfer as mode of payment.
The re-electionist added that she is pushing to file a complaint for the protection of delivery riders and business establishments against the modus.
Hontiveros said in a statement, “We are monitoring to study possible legal action. Hindi para sa amin pero para sa mga local business at mga rider.”
Another 2022 candidate in Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo was also victimized by the same prank on the same day with prank orders amounting to more than P100,000 placed under her name via MetroMart app on COD (cash on delivery).
The Vice President said in a statement, “Sana lang sa panahon ng matinding kagipitan, huwag nang mag-isip ng mga panloloko at ‘yung mga maliliit na naman ‘yung mga nabibiktima,” expressing her worry on the damage and hassle the pranks cause to the riders.
Meanwhile, MetroMart has confirmed to the press that the orders have been returned without costing the riders and the Office of the VP.
Previously, law enforcement authorities including the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have announced that they will be operating against the incidents of prank and fake bookings for delivery services of products as the cases are alarmingly increasing. TNF
