Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Some of the country’s most prominent political families have joined forces to support the tandem of Presidential aspirant former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice Presidential bet Mayor Sara Duterte.
Among the coalition are Estrada, Arroyo, Marcos and Duterte where their respective parties, Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino of Estrada; Lakas – Christian Muslim Democrats of Arroyo; Partido Federal ng Pilipinas of Marcos; and Hugpong ng Pagbabago of Sara Duterte have joined forces in an alliance agreement signed in Pasay City on Thursday.
Former Senator Bongbong Marcos said that the interest of the Filipino people has been the driving force behind the congregation of the groups, and that their alliance will once again bring stability for the country and politics.
Political scientists Jean Franco and Cleve Arguelles said the unity of families has been dubbed by their critics as “unholy” and seemed to have formed due to the promising lead of Bongbong Marcos in the pre-campaign and pre-election survey results.
Franco said in a statement, “People are already joining the bandwagon. This also goes for businessmen supporting these political parties.”
However, Arguelles said the goal of the coalition is clearly to keep all the said families in power.
Arguelles told reporters in a statement, “It’s quite clear that it’s the interests of these political families being forwarded in this coalition or alliance. And it makes sense, as a political family, your goal in 2022 is to keep yourself in power and to ensure that you’ll gain access to government power.” TNF
