Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – In a surprising turn of events, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Tuesday, has announced his withdrawal from the Presidential race in the 2022 elections.
Go also dismissed rumors that he was pressured to fall out of candidacy for the country’s highest position.
The Senator said his family has always been against his bid for President and that he only previously decided to run as he wanted to follow PDP-Laban’s order, the party chaired by his close friend, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The Senator has also bared that he had discussed his position with Duterte just a few nights ago to whom he revealed his “agony” over his previous decision.
Following his recent withdrawal, Go surprised the nation when he filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) to run for President when Duterte withdrew from the VP race after Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte decided to run for the post.
Now that Senator Go is out of the race, Duterte’s endorsement is made available for all candidates.
