Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Amid the current surges in COVID-19 cases, the Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed on Monday, 52 more cases of the deadlier Delta variant in Cagayan Valley Region.
Of the 52 new cases of the COVID-19 mutation reported on Monday, September 13, there were 22 tagged in Isabela province, 12 in Cagayan, 10 in Nueva Vizcaya and 8 in the province of Quirino.
In Isabela province, 10 were detected in Santiago City,3 each in San Agustin and San Mateo, 1 each in the towns of Jones, Quezon, Ramon, and Santo Tomas.
Cagayan province, which currently has most of the active infections in the region, has 4 Delta cases in Baggao, 3 cases each in the towns of Alcala and Iguig, and 1 in Tuguegarao City.
In Nueva Vizcaya, 4 Delta samples were confirmed in the town of Bayombong, 2 in Aritao, 1 each from the towns of Bagabag, Bambang, Kasibu and Dupax Del Norte.
Meanwhile, Quirino towns with Delta cases are Diffun with 3, Aglipay with 2, Maddela also with 2 and Cabarroguis with 1.
The said new Delta infections were based from the confirmed samples by the DOH, all detected by the UP – Philippine Genome Center.
COVID-19 Situation in Cagayan Valley
As of September 12, there are 5,134 active COVID-19 cases in Cagayan province, 522 in Quirino, 655 in Nueva Vizcaya, 1 in Batanes, and 3,673 in Isabela reported on Monday, September 13 bringing the total regionwide active infections to 9,985.
With the Delta variant confirmations together with special variants of concern over the past 4 weeks, health experts have validated the speed of the more dominant variants in spreading infections faster and with deadlier effects recording record daily deaths all over the region as well.
There are now 2,708 Delta cases, 2,448 Alpha cases, and Beta with 2,725 detected in PH as of Monday. TNF
