Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – An immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) vs former presidential adviser on economic affairs Michael Yang has been issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra said the issued ILBO against Yang was from a request by the Chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Senator Richard Gordon who is presently in the process of investigating the allegedly mishandled pandemic response funds along with the allegedly overpriced medical supplies.
Recently, the former presidential adviser has been grilled for alleged links to Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp., the biggest supplier of facemasks, faceshields, and other medical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pharmally is currently being probed by the Senate for billions worth of contracts (in Peso) despite of having only P625,000 capital, fake company addresses, as well as for other irregularities.
In a Senate Probe last Monday, September 13, Yang’s absence has triggered lawmakers to include him in the watchlist of the immigration as some of Pharmally’s other executives have fled the country prior to the investigation.
Yang’s lawyer, Atty. Raymon Fortun has confirmed and acknowledged the authority for the issuance of an ILBO by the Senate.
Fortun said in a statement, “However, the same is totally unnecessary. Mr. Yang has continuously expressed his willingness to cooperate in the Senate investigation, and has no plans of leaving the country during the course thereof.”
An ILBO doesn’t prevent anyone from leaving the Philippines, instead it enables Immigration officials to let the DOJ know if the person issued attempts to leave, prompting ILBO issued people to secure clearances first to be permitted exit from the country.
ILBO’s have also been issued vs former budget undersecretary Lloyd Christopher Lao, as well as overall deputy Ombudsman Warren Rex Liong, Pharmally officials Linconn Ong, Twinkle Dargani, Mohit Dargani, Huang Tzu Yen, Justine Garadao, and Krizle Grace Mago. TNF
