CEBU, Philippines — Majority of the frontline health workers in Central Visayas have already been vaccinated with the first dose.
Department of Health-7 spokesperson Dr. Van Phillip Baton has congratulated the A1 group or frontline health workers who are dealing with COVID-infected individuals for reaching 91.3 percent coverage or nine of every ten A1 have been given one dose of COVID-19 vaccines.
“The DOH would like to see this level of accomplishment for our senior citizens and adults with co-morbidities as our vaccine supply is improving,” said Baton, who is also the DOH-7 program coordinator of the Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases.
Baton added that the department is also encouraging the citizens to register with their local government units as they await for additional supplies
He further urged the continuous practice of minimum public health protocols while patiently waiting their turn to get vaccinated.
Baton also encouraged LGUs to focus on the most vulnerable such as our senior citizens and those who have comorbidities as the region is on its way of reaching 20 percent of the masterlisted senior citizens.
Data shows that as of June 24, 2021, a total of 120,455 of the 132,989 eligible population priority A1 were vaccinated on the first dose while 81,243 were vaccinated with the second dose.
Also, 107,863 senior citizens were vaccinated for the first dose out of the 549,444 eligible populations for this priority group in Central Visayas. While 27,700 senior citizens were already inoculated with the second dose.
For the A3 priority group or persons with comorbidities, 140,769 and 17,666 were vaccinated for the first and second dose, respectively. This priority group has a total eligible population of 177,284.
Baton also reminded everyone that there is no vaccine in the country that is approved to be sold in the market since the Food and Drugs Administration have only released Emergency Use Authorization and not Certificate of Product Registration which is required for products to be sold commercially. — GMR (FREEMAN)
