Barangay Council and volunteers from Poblacion here led the activity as part of the compliance to the mandamus issued by the Supreme Court Manila Bay Advisory Committee.
The mandamus orders the clean-up, rehabilitation and preservation of the waters of Manila Bay through the support of local government units.
Aside from garbage, the removal of water lilies is also directed as they are considered invasive plant species.
If left unmanaged, water lilies will outcompete native aquatic species and reduce oxygen levels for fish.
The clean-up drives in this town, as well as in other areas along the Pampanga River, is conducted on a weekly basis.
