CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Northern Luzon residents, including those from Karding-hit folks from Nueva Ecija province in Central Luzon, were advised by the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PagAsa) on Tuesday to brace for light to moderate, with at times heavy rains, as Tropical Depression “Maymay” is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of the southern portion of Aurora, or northern portion of Quezon on Wednesday.
In its latest weather update, PAGASA said Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and the extreme northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands, are now under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.
“Maymay” was last spotted 300 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora province, moving southwest at 10 kph with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and wind gusts of up to 55 kph.
“Maymay” may decelerate and generally move southwest in the next 48 hours, but PagAsa warns of moderate to heavy rain showers over the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela and Apayao and light to moderate, with at times heavy rains are likely over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Aurora, and Kalinga.
