MABALACAT City Mayor Cris Garbo has urged students in the city to study hard to make the sacrifices of their parents worth it.
The mayor issued the statement when he led the recent distribution of P5,000 cash assistance to each of the 700 indigent students, who benefitted from the City Government’s education assistance program.
Garbo said the funds will help the students sustain their needs as he expressed hopes for their success.
The mayor was assisted by his daughter, Councilor Win-Win Garbo, during the distribution of the cash.
Garbo on the same day distributed P4,200 for each of the 600 students who rendered services under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (Spes)
He said that a total of 1,200 students benefitted from the Spes program of the Department of Labor and Employment implemented by the City Public Employment Services Office.
The mayor thanked DOLE for the program, which he said has greatly helped the indigent students in the city.
