AT LEAST 107 Aetas from Barangay Sapangbato in Angeles City, Pampanga have received their first dose of vaccines against Covid-19 via the City Government’s Ronda Bakuna program.

“Tayo na po mismo ang pumunta upang ihatid ang bakuna. Nais po natin na mabigyan ng proteksyon laban sa virus ang ating mga kababayan, lalo na po ang Aeta community na naninirahan po sa mga remote areas,” Lazatin said.

Aside from the 107 Aetas who received the first dose of vaccines, 45 got fully vaccinated on the same day.

This is in line with the city’s celebration of Indigenous People’s Month this October.

Lazatin also personally distributed P2,000 kabuhayan assistance, food packages, organic vegetable seeds, condensed and evaporated milk to 313 Aeta families in Sapangbato.

Lazatin was assisted by his Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Head Rodolfo Simeon.

Lazatin’s Senior Staff including Mayor’s Office Record’s Section Head Jermaine Jam Aguila, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office Head Irish Bonus-Llego, and Angeles City Tourism Chief Anneleen Antonio-Sugui also assisted Lazatin.

According to Cabiles, among the beneficiaries were 106 families in Sitio Babo; 52 in Sitio Bliss; and 155 in Sitio Target.

To recall, 168 Aetas from the same village were already vaccinated via the same Ronda Bakuna in September.

In 2020, Lazatin also distributed food packages, milk and mosquito nets to some 300 Aeta families as part of the IP month.

In 2019, Lazatin assisted hundred of Aetas to register their birth certificates by tapping the Local Civil Registry and Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Pampanga Chapter.
