THE cooperation of Kapampangans became a significant factor in the continuous decline in the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Pampanga, according to Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab.

Based on the data of the Provincial Health Office, Pampanga recorded only 54 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, July 5, which is far to the number of new cases reported daily from April to early June, which peaked at around 300.

Fewer patients are also reportedly admitted on hospitals and designated quarantine and isolation facilities in the province.

In a chance interview in the City of San Fernando on Monday, Pineda-Cayabyab said the compliance of Kapampangans to various health protocols set by the national and local inter-agency task forces played a big role on the said development.

“We are giving credit to DOH and Provincial Capitol officials for crafting good measures to curb the spread Covid-19 but we also must acknowledge the compliance of the Kapampangans. If not for them, the implementation of all the rules will not be as successful,” she said.

She also attributed the drop in Covid-19 cases to the fast rollout of vaccines in the province.

She urged Kapampangans who are qualified to receive the vaccines to maximize the opportunity and get inoculated.

“If you are in the priority list and you passed the medical screening test, grab the opportunity to get vaccinated because this is our only way to get protected,” Pineda-Cayabyab said.

She also reminded Kapampangans, even those vaccinated, to remain cautious as the risk of getting infected by the virus is still high.

“Nobody is really safe until we reach the herd immunity so let us be careful and remain compliant with the health protocols,” she said.
