THE Department of Social Welfare and Development Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) disbursed around P420 million to 284,700 beneficiaries in Davao Region during its third quarter payout.
According to DSWD, the disbursement is under the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SocPen) Program.
DSWD said SocPen provides P1,500 (quarterly) or P500 to their beneficiaries as their monthly stipend in line with the Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Seniors Citizens Act of 2010.
RA 9994 states that the law is meant to promote a just and dynamic social order that will ensure the prosperity and independence of the nation and free the people from poverty through policies that provide adequate social services, promote full employment, a rising standard of living and improved quality of life.
“This successful payout was made possible through the help of various Municipal/City Social Welfare and Development Offices (M/CSWDOs), and other Local Government Units (LGUs).
The 4th (last) quarter payout will commence between October to December,” DSWD said on their Facebook page.
In the first quarter, DSWD reported a total of P 234,358,500 disbursed to 156,239 beneficiaries in Davao Region, while in the second quarter, P419,407,500.00 has been disbursed to 279,605 beneficiaries. KSD
