About 94 schools, 53 elementary schools, and 40 secondary schools submitted an application to conduct limited face-to-face classes but only LJMNHS has been approved.
Other schools that applied are being evaluated and may reopen soon.
Lorenzo E. Mendoza, school division superintendent (SDS) of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Davao Occidental, said the requirements of DepEd for limited face-to-face classes include an intent letter for application, School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT) Compliant, local government unit (LGU) Support including the Tribal Council, and Parent Consent.
After the requirements are accomplished, the School Division Office (SDO) composite team with the recommendation of the SDS will submit the schools for approval to conduct face-to-face classes by the Regional Director of DepEd-Davao Region.
“No specific year level or classes priority for Limited the F2F but we give priority to those marginalized learners and to those learners that need our assistance,” Mendoza said.
“This is an effort jointly done by DepEd and other stakeholders especially the community, parents, LGUs, and local IATF (Inter-agency Task Force) so that the safety of the teachers and learners will be secured as we progressively open our in-person classes,” Mendoza added.
These limited face-to-face classes are in line with the 00-OSEC-2022-003 and stipulated in the Regional Memorandum 009 or the Reiteration of the Interim Guidelines on the Expansion of the Limited face to face classes in the Davao Region.
Mendoza said that with the cooperation of LGU and Local IATF, they make sure their schools are compliant with the protocols and the SSAT. The school is advised to strictly adhere to the memorandum’s provisions.
Even with face-to-face classes being implemented, other modalities such as module, online, radio-based, and TV-based and blended learning are still being used until the declaration of the pandemic will be lifted.
