THE Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) reminded Dabawenyos who will be traveling from and to National Capital Region (NCR) that only fully vaccinated travelers will be allowed to travel beginning Monday, January 17.

In an advisory posted on CTOO’s Facebook page Friday evening, January 14, the travel advisory was in accordance to Department of Transportation Department Order 2022-001 and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Memo Order 002-2022 “Limiting Access of Public Transportation to Vaccinated Population.”

“For affected unvaccinated domestic passengers, kindly check with your carrier regarding rebooking and for other inquiries,” CTOO wrote on its post.

The tourism office, meanwhile, said there are still no restrictions nor additional requirements for travelers by air, land and sea going to Davao City. Health and travel protocols of a traveler’s destination or from his/her origin, however, must be complied with.

In a short text message, CTOO Head Generose Tecson told SunStar Davao that the City Government is still not keen on reimposing the “test before travel” policy amid the ongoing spike of cases in the city.

The City Government discontinued the mandatory reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results to all travelers entering the city, effective November 16, 2021.

This came after the city was downgraded to Alert Level 2 brought about by the continuing downtrend of Covid-19 cases.

The “test before travel” policy, however, will still apply to all arriving international flight passengers at the Davao Airport, regardless of country of origin, as also mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said on Friday that the city is still not discussing its possible reimposition amid being placed under Alert Level 3 effective on the same day until January 31.
