ALMOST 500 beds in isolation facilities under the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force were occupied, as of January 14, 2022.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the Covid-19 Task Force, said in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on January 14, that 490 out of the 658 beds of the city’s isolation facilities were already occupied.

“We have already occupied, naa na sa 183, this is as of January 13. Today (January 14) naa man ta (today we have) additional 307,” she said.

Schlosser said the isolation facilities, including isolation sites in schools, were at low risk.

“Sa atong mga isolation facilities, wala pa man ta sa critical risk,” she said. “Sa other facilities sa school, low risk ta ana kay preferred man gud sa mga tao hotels.”

(Our isolation facilities are not yet under critical risk while school-based isolation facilities are low risk because people prefer hotels.)

According to Schlosser, more people prefer isolating in hotels than the government-provided school isolation facilities. However, Schlosser said once hotel isolation becomes full, school isolation needs to be utilized.

“Rest assured that we have upgraded this. Gipaningkamutan man na mugwapo atong mga isolation facilities (We worked hard to improve our isolation facilities) for the comfort of our people,” said Schlosser.

The spokesperson also anticipates that more isolation facilities will be occupied in the coming days based on the recent trend of increasing cases.

“So dako ang chance na madungagan jud sya (There’s a big chance it will increase),” she said.

Meanwhile, more and more hospital beds are being occupied around the region.

Based on the Regional Case Bulletins of DOH-Davao, as of January 15, a total of 206 ward beds were occupied and 347 were available, 88 ICU beds were taken and 100 were available, and 295 isolation beds were occupied while 517 were available.
