In an interview with Davao City Disaster Radio on December 22, Davao City Human Resources Management Office head Lemuel Ortonio said that they are already discussing with the development team of the SafeDavao QR App the best way to incorporate the proposal into the system.
“Yes, gina-consider nato ni siya (We are considering it). This was brought up noong Monday during one of the discussions and we are strongly considering this,” said Ortonio.
The proposal came when the #AddDONATEButton movement, started by private citizen Nana Cabales, sparked online and went viral over the weekend.
This prompted echoing sentiments from Davao City residents saying they want to donate their Pahalipay grocery package to victims of Typhoon Odette.
Ortonio clarifies that the trending #AddDONATEButton online post is still a proposal currently being discussed by the city government.
“Dili pato siya final so muhulat na lang ta ug official announcement from the city government of Davao (It is not yet final so let us just wait for the official announcement from the city government of Davao),” said Ortonio.
Cabales first posted about her suggestion of a donate button in the SafeDavao QR app on December 18.
“I empathize with the people who are aching to help and donate but feel they don’t have much to give,” she said.
Cabales added, “I commend the initiative of our local government in implementing the SafeDavao QR App and coursing the Pahalipay Rewards through the app. I really think that this app has so much potential and can be utilized further.” (ICM)
