OUT of the 182 barangays in Davao City, 136 barangays have zero recorded Covid-19 cases from November 14 to 20, an official from the Covid-19 Task Force said Friday, November 26.
Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said in a radio interview that only 46 barangays have active cases.
She added that the majority of the 46 have only one or two active cases for the particular week.
SunStar Davao asked for the complete list of barangays with zero Covid-19 cases, but Schlosser said she has yet to consolidate it and will have it released through the Davao City Information Office in the coming days.
Meanwhile, based on the Covid-19 Barangay Risk Assessment Map, Davao City is categorized as a “low risk” area, based on its two week growth rate and average daily attack rate.
Only 14 barangays were tagged as moderate risk barangays.
These are 20-B, 39-B, Buhangin Proper, Centro (San Juan, Agdao), Gov. Paciano Bangoy (Agdao), Marapangi, R. Castillo, V. Hizon Sr., and Wilfredo Aquino.
Barangays 4-A, 8-A, 9-A, 11-B, and 19-B were also classified as moderate risk barangay after being in close proximity with 10-A, a high risk barangay.
Schlosser also revealed that no establishment has been placed under granular lockdown as of now.
With the continuing downtrend of cases in the city, Schlosser said the spread of the Covid-19 cases in the city has been controlled.
“Definitely, I can vouch for the control of Covid-19 here in Davao City ug maka-definite ko ana (and I can be definite about it) since we are the ones consolidating the data,” the health official said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.
“Controlled siya, however, we cannot take the fact nga naa lang gihapon siya. So dili pwede nga magkumpyansa, dili pwede nga lenient kaayo ang katawhan (that the virus is still there. So the public must not be complacent and lenient),” she added.
This is in response to the recent statement of National Task Force (NTF) against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa that the spread of coronavirus in the Philippines has already been controlled.
Herbosa said this is based on the country’s less than five percent positivity rate over the past two weeks.
Schlosser also said the improving Covid-19 situation is evident as the city has not recorded a single critical risk barangay for the past weeks.
According to the Department of Health-Davao Region as of November 25, Davao City’s active case is at 198 after only eight new cases were recorded. This is a huge improvement from the peak 5,000 active cases in September.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, in a previous interview, attributed the downtrend of cases in the city to the ongoing vaccination rollout, which had already reached more than one million vaccinees for the first dose.
Duterte-Carpio said the city, currently under Alert Level 2 until November 30, can expect to downgrade to Alert Level 1, the most relaxed alert level status in the country.
