DAVAO Region is targeting to vaccinate 750,000 individuals within three days during the National Vaccination Day from November 29 to December 1, 2021, an official from the Department of Health (DOH)-Davao said.

The National Covid-19 Vaccination Bayanihan Bakunahan will be a nationwide vaccination activity that aims to inoculate 15 million people nationwide.

Dr. Janis Olavides, DOH-Davao vaccination team leader, said during a virtual presser on Monday, November 22, that the region is targeting to vaccinate 753,294 in three days. This is triple to the 251,098 daily target.

According to the breakdown, Davao City must achieve 147,313 vaccinees in three days, while Davao de Oro targets 139,540 vaccinees, Davao del Norte targets 168,704, Davao del Sur with 134,886, Davao Occidental with 66,106, and Davao Oriental with 96,744.

“This is a directive from the national government that all of us… we should ramp up the vaccination activity for the whole of Davao Region,” Olavides said.

DOH-Davao is targeting to achieve 70 percent herd immunity out of 3,759,878 total population.

Olavides said the region’s vaccination coverage for the first dose is still around 50 percent.

As of November 21, a total of 1,925,617 doses were administered for the first dose, while 1,653,321 individuals are fully vaccinated after receiving their second dose or one-shot Janssen Covid-19 vaccine.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Davao Director Alex Roldan said that all local government units (LGUs), based on the sent memorandum circular, are mandated to support the three day National Vaccination Day.

Roldan said there is an ongoing meeting among LGUs in preparation for the nationwide vaccination event.

Barangay officials were also ordered to identify those within their communities that are still unvaccinated.

The National Vaccination Days will be simultaneously held in 16 regions and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Dr. Kezia Rosario of the National Vaccination Operation Center said those who are willing to get vaccinated during the three-day vaccination drive are not required to register in their respective LGUs, stressing that walk-in vaccinees are welcome.
