SEVERAL landslides struck Barili, Cebu on Thursday, January 12, 2023.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the southwestern town has experienced periods of intense rainfall these past few days, disturbing the natural stability of slopes in Barangays Rafael and Sayaw.
In the early morning of Thursday, strong winds also felled trees that ended up blocking roads in parts of the town.
As of press time, employees of the local DRRMO continued to clear the roads of obstructions so vehicles could pass.
The PDRRMO, in a statement, said no one was hurt in the incidents.
Meanwhile, it called on residents, especially those living in disaster-prone areas, to monitor the weather and to immediately evacuate if they sense any danger. (ANV/PJB)
