THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD 7) has been able to release P55 million worth of educational assistance to 20,483 students in crisis situation after four consecutive Saturdays of cash distribution.
During the last distribution on September 10, 2022, the DSWD 7 distributed a total of P13.4 million in cash assistance to the 5,000 beneficiaries from Bohol, Cebu and Negros Oriental.
Around 7,300 students were supposed to receive the cash aid on the said date, but only 5,000 of them showed up, said DSWD 7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero.
Lea Quintana, information officer of DSWD 7, announced that the online registration for educational assistance already ended on Sunday morning, September 11, after they reached their registration quota.
Lucero requested those who have registered already to wait for their confirmation from the DSWD before going to the distribution venue to claim their money.
The next distribution schedule is on September 17.
Lucero said the DSWD 7 has an available fund of P118 million for Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) in elementary, high school, senior high and college/vocational level.
She assured the students, though, that if they could not show up this coming Saturday or on September 24, the last distribution date, they still have the chance to receive their cash aid as they will not stop the distribution until the P118-million available fund is released. (PAC, TPT)
