In Dumaguete City, DOLE 7 Director Lilia Estillore said at least 155 ambulant vendors and 28 parents had each received bicycle with sidecar, stove burner, cooking pan and glasses amounting to P6.86 million through the department’s Negusyo sa Kariton (Neg-Kart) livelihood program.

The Bantay Komunidad-Dumandan Association with 101 members also got a financial assistance of P672,392 for their sewing/recycling of cloth remnants and meat processing project.
“We want them to value what the government has given them. We want them to claim ownership of their individual livelihood projects and to boost that, the beneficiaries also provided their counterpart,” Estillore said.
“We are very optimistic that these livelihood funds will go a long way for the beneficiaries. We fervently hope that whatever are the objectives of their respective livelihood projects, the same will be met,” she added.
“The bottom line is — the DOLE is one with the government in endeavoring to uplift the lives of those who badly need help with the goal in mind to make them financially self-reliant eventually,” the regional director said.
The financial assistance was in line with the agency’s Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program. (PAC, TPT)
