THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will comply with Mayor Michael Rama’s Executive Order (EO) 5, which makes the wearing of face masks outdoors and in open spaces “non-obligatory.”
Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for administration of the CCPO, said they have noticed that the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the city is down compared to other places in Central Visayas.
Despite the lifting of the mandatory face mask policy, Parilla urged the public not to be complacent amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“But for us, we will always still recommend to the people to wear face masks, but we will follow the guidelines if ever the mayor made a directive already,” he said on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
During their nightly conduct of Oplan Bulabog, he said they only reprimand people who are not wearing face masks, especially if they’re in a crowd.
The police official admitted that vaccination has proven to be an effective means to contain the spread and impact of Covid-19.
Parilla said this is why many who test positive no longer need hospitalization. (AYB/PJB)
