THE Cebu City Government is set to conduct an inventory of unvaccinated individuals in the 10 pilot barangays.
Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, who is the deputy implementer of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), told SunStar Cebu that they have identified 10 barangays as their pilot areas for the inventory.
The move was due to the order of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to the local government units (LGUs) to conduct an inventory in line with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte amid the rise of Covid-19 cases in the country.
“It was discussed thoroughly the need to have an inventory down to the sitio and purok level,” said Garganera, based on their meeting with the barangay captains on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Once they have the template, the councilor stressed that they will implement the inventory simultaneously to the rest of the 70 barangays in the city.
These 10 pilot barangays include Tisa and Budlaan, in which Garganera said both have a share of both lowland and mountain residents.
“This is also in line with the Mayor’s (Michael Rama’s) directive not to leave any stone unturned in our vaccination drive,” he added.
To start with, Garganera said they are conducting the inventory through the health centers since they have the complete records regarding the barangay residents.
He clarified that barangays have no records of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.
“Kanang (Those) actual residents gyud, per household ug dili lang mo (and not to) rely sa (on the) address nga gibutang sa (written on the) vax card in order to really get the actual vaccination status of a barangay,” he explained. (MKG, TPT)
