Cebu City records 145 new active cases January 9

THE Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 that Cebu City had 145 new cases, bringing the city’s total active cases to 433.

The full report about the Sunday new active cases will be relayed to the public on Monday, Jan. 10, said City Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementer of the Cebu City EOC.

On Saturday, Jan. 8, Cebu City logged 91 new cases.

The total active cases on Saturday was a 43.25 percent jump from Friday’s active cases of 201.

Cebu City’s daily positivity rate on Saturday was 16.61 percent after 548 individuals tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, said City Councilor Joel Garganera, the deputy chief implementer of Emergency Operations Center.

But as for the total positivity rate, the data shows that the city has 8.90 percent of the 469,668 tested individuals.

Of the 288 active cases, 121 were believed to have contracted the virus within the city, 45 in Manila and 22 outside Manila.

Garganera said out of the 80 barangays, 46 of which have active cases of Covid-19, where Barangay Lahug had the highest with 21.
