THE Cebu City Government will be administering Covid-19 booster shots to fully vaccinated individuals starting December this year.

Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, head of the Cebu City Health Department, told reporters they will administer the booster shots for priority groups A1, A2 and A3 during the three-day National Vaccination Day from Nov. 29, 2021 to Dec. 1. Priority group A1 is the medical and hospital frontliners, A2 is the senior citizens and A3 is the persons with comorbidities.

Ibones said they plan to establish around 90 vaccination sites around the city and try to vaccinate around 32,000 people per day or 96,000 in three days.

As of now, Ibones said they are still hiring doctors, vaccinators and other personnel to work on the three-day national vaccination day.

Ibones said that per site, they will need to vaccinate 200 people.

One site will be staffed by one doctor, one vaccinator, he said.

But for sites that can vaccinate at least 400 people, Ibones said they will deploy at least three vaccinators.

The City is also coordinating with hospitals, including Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and doctors’ groups like the Cebu Medical Society so it can secure 90 doctors for the three-day event.

Separately, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said he plans to volunteer to be one of the first individuals to get a booster shot as he was already fully vaccinated for more than six months, as required by the Department of Health.

Rama and the late Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella got their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines back in May.

Meanwhile, Cebu City Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia said that aside from the Christmas bonuses that regular and casual workers will receive once they get vaccinated, job order workers will also get an incentive.

Garcia, who chairs the committee on budget and finance in the Cebu City Council, said they will be giving P3,000 in cash bonuses and one sack of rice to job order workers.

He said the budget for the incentives, including that for regular and casual employees, will be included in their next supplemental budget.

Garcia said the proposed budget is still with the Cebu City Development Council for approval.

The councilor said they would only give the incentive if the city’s job order workers are vaccinated as stated by Rama.

The City currently has 4,700 job order workers. (PAC, CAL)
