THE Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) logged 64 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, which brought the City’s total active cases to 710.
The 64 new cases came from the 1,011 samples tested on Saturday. The daily positivity rate is 6.33 percent, which is slightly above the five percent threshold set by the World Health Organization.
The City also added 25 new names in its recovery list and five new reported deaths on Saturday.
Based on the data EOC deputy chief implementer and City Councilor Joel Garganera provided, only 16 of the 144 beds available at the Cebu City Quarantine Center are currently occupied, while only 94 of the 289 beds in barangay isolation centers are in use. Of the 118 allocated Covid beds in hotels, only 59 are occupied.
Household transmission, Garganera said, remains the leading source of transmission. Fewer infections have been attributed to outside transmission in places like supermarkets, workplaces, delivery services and public markets, among others.
As of Friday, Oct. 1, a total of 350,068 individuals have received the first dose of two-dose Covid-19 vaccines, while 303,397 individuals have been fully vaccinated. (WBS)
