PULUPANDAN town Mayor Miguel Antonio Peña disclosed Sunday, October 24, 2021, the establishment of their nine-bed temporary coronavirus disease (Covid-19) treatment facility.

Peña said the facility will cater to patients with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms while waiting for available hospital beds for admission.

It will also possibly cater to pregnant women infected with the disease, who are for imminent delivery.

The facility is equipped with a delivery table, oxygen tanks, oxygen concentrators and other basic emergency equipment that can provide primary care level.

“Modifications are still ongoing but the facility is already operational (and) in fact, an unvaccinated 72-year-old male, who was tested positive for Covid-19 [virus], was catered to at the facility last week while waiting for admission through the One Hospital Command Center of the province,” he said.

Peña stressed that like other localities, Pulupandan has been facing challenges for the past years already during this Covid-19 pandemic.

“These are some compelling reasons why the Municipality of Pulupandan stepped up Covid-19 response, still using the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) strategy as our overall framework,” he said.

The mayor added that “our local Inter-Agency Task Force noted the current hospital utilization rate in the province as basis of the establishment of the nine-bed capacity temporary treatment facility.”
