NEGROS Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said Tuesday, September 7, that oxygen supply at the provincial oxygen plant is already running out, while hospital utilization rate in the province continues to rise.

Diaz said that in fact, the oxygen utilization demand in the province is higher than the supply they earlier purchased at P5 million.

He said that Covid-19 Delta variant cases in Negros Occidental are already transmitted locally and that those infected by the disease are now suffering from moderate to severe symptoms.

Diaz added that although the Covid-19 infections in the province are higher from April to May this year, cases were only mild to moderate.

Based on record, Covid-19 utilization rate at the Cadiz City District Hospital already reached 80 percent while Valladolid District Hospital already reached its maximum capacity.

But Diaz said the Provincial Health Office needs to collate all the data before concluding that indeed there is already a surge of Covid cases in the province.

He also said that five provincial employees were recently tested positive for coronavirus and of that number, three were from the Accounting Office, and one each from the Public Information Office and the Negros Occidental Language Center.

The provincial administrator said he will issue a memorandum this week to remind the department and office heads to limit cross office interaction among employees and avoid holding celebrations and parties.
