THE hospitals run and operated by Negros Occidental Provincial Government are not overwhelmed at this time, including those that cater to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patients.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz showed on Wednesday, August 4, an update under the One Hospital Command System that allows real-time monitoring of his office of the hospitals’ operations, including its occupancies.
He said at the Teresita Jaladoni Provincial Hospital, 116 of its 198 bed capacity are occupied, while 82 beds are vacant, while Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital has 71 beds occupied.
Cadiz City District Hospital has 17 beds occupied, Valladolid District Hospital has 15, Valeriano Gatuslao Hospital in Himamaylan City with 26, and Merciditas Montilla Hospital in Sipalay City has one bed occupied.
These are non-Covid patients, Diaz clarified.
Diaz said the different mayors have already indicated their intent to participate in the One Hospital System, including the small hospitals.
“Our situation is far better compared to other provinces having high cases of Covid-19. We are hoping to continue with the situation of having a decreasing case of Covid-19,” he said.
He also said that at this time, the province has not received any request for augmentation of oxygen supplies from Cebu.
He said improvements are ongoing at the TLJPH under Dr. Ann Maestral, the newly appointed chief of hospital. He said that in fact, they will hire additional personnel for the hospital.
