TYPHOON “Jolina” has caused the evacuation of 17 families from 12 barangays in four towns of Negros Occidental Tuesday, September 7, the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) reported.
The PDMD said the families composed of 318 individuals are from the towns of La Castellana, Pontevedra, Isabela and Don Salvador Benedicto.
In La Castellana, two houses were destroyed and 14 others were damaged and a river wall was damaged.
A house in Hinigaran town was also damaged while several narra trees were uprooted.
Meanwhile, as of Wednesday morning, September 8, there are no more stranded passengers at the ports in cities of Sagay and Escalante bound for the towns of Tabuelan and Tuburan in Cebu after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) was lifted at 8 p.m. that day by the state weather bureau.
Captain Ludovico Librilla, station commander of the Philippine Coast Guard in Negros Occidental and deputy commander of the Coast Guard District in Western Visayas, issued the lifting of the travel suspension around 4 a.m. Wednesday.
