ALARM RAISED AMID PANDEMIC
DENGUE cases in Pangasinan increased by 70 percent from January to Aug. 2 this year compared to last year’s record of the same period that resulted in the listing of three cities and two towns in the Dengue watch list.
In a radio interview, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna de Guzman said the province has already logged 2,681dengue cases with two deaths this year compared to last year’s same period 1,582 cases with 11 deaths.
She underscored the higher dengue cases this year even as she noted lower number of deaths so far.
Cities and towns included in the Dengue watch list a are: San Carlos City, 327 cases; Alaminos City, 219; Pozorrubio, 147; Bolinao,109 and Urdaneta City, 108.
De Guzman urged residents people to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and to regularly check water receptacles or items that collect water that could be used by mosquitoes as breeding grounds. (Eva Visperas)
