ILOILO – Various types of sharp objects were recovered by the authorities during a greyhound operation ta the Iloilo District Jail (IDJ) in Barangay Nanga, Pototan town on Oct. 9.
Among those recovered were steel pipes, ballpoint pens, nails and stones, according to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) that spearheaded the operation together with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
The operation was done following the death of a person deprived of liberty (PDL); he was stabbed by a fellow inmate using an improvised metal weapon on Oct. 7.
The greyhound operation aimed to ensure the safety and security of the PDLs inside the facility, the IPPO said.
Others who joined the inspection were the officers of the Pototan, Barotac Nuevo and Zarraga police stations, and the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company./PN
