The Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) announced Tuesday that there will be scheduled blackouts on January 14-15 because of the National Power Corporation (NPC) tie line maintenance and their parallel activity.

There will be power curtailment, PALECO said, since the NPC-PALECO 69 kV tie line will be unavailable for the conduct of pole erection of the second and third segment at Structure No. 53 & 16 (Wilcon and Irawan), pole dressing and transfer of hardware and conductors to new structures in front of DQWH and Shell Gasoline Station from 8 a.m. 5 p.m., and massive clearing and retightening of primary jumpers.

The municipalities of Roxas, Narra, Brooke’s Point, and Sofronio Espanola are going to be affected due to the restoration of grid from island operation to normal operation.

According to PALECO, power may be restored ahead of time, depending on the NPC’s activity status and availability of supply. Curtailment schedule will be implemented ahead of time if necessary, compulsory load curtailment on big loads will be implemented (SM, NCCC, Robinsons Mall), priority for load curtailment are downstream reclosers, and initial circuits will be open if necessary.
