CAGAYAN de Oro is set to begin the vaccination rollout for senior citizens on Thursday, April 28, 2021.
According to Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, the Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao allocated 1,500 Sinovac vaccines to Cagayan de Oro.
Nery said the Sinovac vaccines will be for the senior citizens and the remaining frontline healthcare workers who have not received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The city health officer further said that the data management team has already sent text blasts to the senior citizens who will be vaccinated on Thursday. The messages contain where and what time the vaccinees are scheduled to be vaccinated.
“Kung naka pre-register ka, diretso na nga ma print out na tong imohang profile, dili na ka malangan didto sa registration area pag abot nimo. Bring your senior citizens ID,” Nery said.
Nery said the first batch of senior citizens that will receive their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine are under the age group of 60 to 79.
She further said that based on their data, the age group of 60 to 79 are those who are still active and mobile.
“These are the groups nga mobile pa kaayo, sige pa og panglakaw-lakaw, active pa ang mobility. And sila pud sa atong data nakit-an nato nga naay mga taas og mortality rates for covid-19 infection,” Nery said.
Meanwhile, Nery reminded the senior citizens who have comorbidities to reach out to their attending physician or their respective barangay health center so they can be assisted by their medical officers.
“Naay mga nagpa-rehistro sa OSCA ug sa mga barangay kay naa man tay gi-deligate nga mag house-to-house, ang katong nakapalista didto, i-validate pa na sa atong data management group, i-encode sa system. That’s why medyo langan gamay,” Nery said.
