TUGUEGARAO CITY-The Cagayan State University has been expanding its partnerships with international universities to further develop knowledge of students and teachers abroad.

Memoranda of agreements with foreign universities for international exchange and partnerships were finalized with Universiti Teknologi Mara in Malaysia, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara in Indonesia, National Taiwan Ocean University in Taiwan, and Thai Nguyen University in Vietnam.

Dr. Urdujah Alvarado, CSU president, said that they have been institutionalizing the exchange program for the professional development of the academe.

Alvarado also noted that the university had hosted the International Conference in Futures Thinking together with international and national partners all towards a stronger internationalization program for the University last year.

She also cited three students who passed rigid selection, who were eventually recipients of the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges Development (SEED) Program which enabled the scholars “the opportunity to experience Canadian education” at St. Mary’s University, Halifax Nova Scotia in Canada.

Aside from the international exposures, Alvarado said they have been implementing the CSU Learning Environment Network System, a virtual learning space for learners and teachers, is utilized to conduct online learning.

In research development and extension, the university has published 43 research articles in International Refereed Journals in 2021, she noted.

“The University has generated a research fund totaling to 99.96-million from different partner agencies to mobilize research initiatives,” Alvarado added, saying that funding agencies include the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Agriculture, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, and Commission on Higher Education.

The extension arm of the university has recorded P10.5-million external funds from partner agencies last year “which enabled the extension services and projects,” she added.

The university has also produced Sunberry, the first food supplement product of the university. It is a product of research between CSU and DOST through the authorship of DOST Balik Scientist Prof. Maria Nilda M. Muñoz.

The university has 32,683 graduate and undergraduate enrollees this school year.#
