THE City Health Services Office (CHSO) is looking to ramp up the city’s booster shot vaccination efforts as in accordance with President Marcos Jr.’s directive to achieve higher vaccination coverage by the end of the administration’s first 100 days in office.
Dr. Rowena Galpo, head of the CHSO, said that supplies of vaccines in the city remain high, with some 78,736 vaccines currently in stock.
The total includes 9,650 Pfizer with Tozinameran jabs for children 5 to 11 years old and 39,276 Pfizer Comirnaty shots for adolescents 12 years of age and above.
Under the directive from the president, the city is pushing to meet targets of 90 percent of senior citizens fully vaccinated, and 50 percent of the eligible population having received at least one booster shot by October. Baguio has already met the first target, and has three months left to meet the 50 percent boosted threshold set.
According to Galpo, in order to meet the threshold for booster coverage, five hundred doses need to be administered daily, for a total of 30,000 doses in the targeted time.
In order to bolster the vaccination efforts, the city is looking to set up vaccination sites in schools during enrollment days, and the rollout of vaccination efforts in workplaces, markets, transport terminals, malls, plazas and churches in the city.
