Bacolod elderly receive social pension

BACOLOD Mayor Evelio Leonardia lead the distribution of P8.1 million in social pension to 2,713 senior citizens in 61 barangays of Bacolod City Friday, September 10, 2021, a press release from the city said.

It added that each recipient received P3,000 representing their social pension for the second semester this year covering the period of July to December.

The social pension of the elderly was distributed through the Department of Social Services and Development.

Among the barangays with the biggest number of beneficiaries are Handumanan- 146, Banago- 122, Taculing- 119, Bata- 118, Mansilingan- 117, Tangub- 115, Singcang-Airport- 112, Villamonte- 108, Mandalagan- 107, and Estefania- 105

Under the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, senior citizens with no permanent sources of income or financial assistance and those who do not receive financial support from their families and relatives may qualify for the assistance.

Senior citizens who are frail, sickly and do not receive pensions from Social Security System, Government Security Insurance System, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Armed Forces or Police Mutual Benefit Association may also qualify for the grant.
